Travel

What is this page?

Although we never expected it, travel has become a cornerstone of our partnership over the years: Between work, conferences, performances, and fun, we’ve been lucky to visit 30 countries across 5 continents, 16 of which we’ve visited together. We’ve established a method to the travel planning madness, splitting research duties between historical sites and museums, local bars and breweries, and noteworthy eateries along the way. We map out ideal walks across cities, pull together readings on the history and geography of our destinations, and learn basic phrases to get around.

Almost as much as the travel itself, we love getting to share our favorite finds with friends in search of neat explorations, incredible restaurants, eccentric breweries and taprooms, and other local discoveries. Over the years, we’ve compiled too many itineraries, Instagram stories, Michelin guides, and hacked-together Google Maps to count, all with the sole purpose of sharing our top recommendations with friends.

This page acts as a triage to the resources we’ve pulled together over the years, including day-by-day itineraries and favorite spots, across some of our favorite travels. With any questions, please feel free to reach out. Enjoy!

We spent months planning a two-week trip through Japan, focusing primarily on Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto with day trips to Kawaguchiko (Fuji), Kamakura, Hiroshima, and Nara. Click the link above for our day-by-day itineraries, favorite finds, daily “required reading”, and recommendations for traveling efficiently.

Thanks to work-related travel, we’ve spent a combined total of almost 15 weeks in London over the past few years. We have favorite haunts, from corner pubs to high tea parlors to basement kitchens with the best full English you can find in central London. Click the link above for recommended walks, day trips, and restaurants around England.

We’ve built out an 8-day itinerary that centers on Paris and various day-trips for 4 days, followed by excursions in and around Provence. Click the link above for favorite destinations, eateries, and tours of wineries in the Rhone region.

Whereas Ryan’s Instagram is roughly 95% beer and 5% travel (he’s still worth the follow for his 2-3 posts a year), Jess’s Instagram is the inverse: A vast majority of the photos shared are latergrams from favorite destinations around the world.
